These look very interesting....my old weathering stuff years ago came from Floquil and Polly S. I'll have to look into these as I'm kicking around the idea of "detailing" some of my 1/18 diecasts. Thanks for the input, Dave

For my military models I use pastels that I rub on sandpaper to make dust. Then mix colors to get the shade I want and then use a variety of methods to apply them.
These look like the same thing except the dust has been made for you.
I will be watching this thread to watch Dave work his magic.

Yeah, all my dust, rust, dirt, mud, and such Floquil paints are getting pretty old and tired, too. This looks like a good thing.

I would agree. The work he has shown of actual built models goes a long way.

There's another rusting product on the market.It's called Sophisticated Finishes.It's a two- part set.The first part is a paint with iron particles suspended in the paint.Your can apply this as light or heavy as you desire.It is acrylic so it can be thinned with water.The second half of the product is a mixture of Copper Sulphate, and Ammonium Chloride.After the metallized paint is completely dry ,liberally apply the chemical mixture to the item to be rusted.Place in a large zip lock bag squeeze the air out of the bag and then place in a window that gets direct sunlight.This causes a "greenhouse" effect and the item stays wet while the oxidation process is unfolding.Several hours are required to get the full effect.The rusty finish can be used "as is" because in nature nothing ages uniformly or you can go ahead and touch it up with pastel chalks.powdered graphite ( for a metallic appearance ).Any well stocked arts and crafts store should have it.I purchased mine from Micheals' Crafts.
