You are correct! I've been painting without one and it stinks up the house. Living in wonderful mn the weather stops you from painting outside for almost 9 months. I had to build one with all these fun runs coming up needing bodies painted :)

Now let me warn you this thing is UGLY!!! But it works and I was going for paint booth on a budget.

Bath fan $13 buck
Cord for bath fan $6
Light and bulbs $10
Roll of duct tape $5
Exhaust pipe $3
Cardboard boxes $0 ya baby
Total $37to build a paint booth. Pretty good in my book

Now here the beast is lol

I took the hinges off the window and installed them on a piece of plywood cut to size

I see nothing wrong with cheap, especially when it works.

Your paint booth came out fine. One can build anything with duct tape & WD-40. If you need things to stick, use duct tape, when you don't want something to stick, use WD-40. At the moment, I'm currently wearing a pair of 40 yr. old mocassins held together with duct tape. :)

If I ever have to duct tape them to my feet, the WD-40 will come in handy. I think my wife will throw them out first. :)
