Modified Shotgun Dave Minis

Modified Shotgun Dave Minis
This fall I built a two Minis for a proxy race that were based on Shotgun Dave bodies. The highly modified Monster Mini body actually started out as "Blemished" body that Dave sent along as a bonus because he knows I like to bash them up. That was fine with me!
I hadn't scratchbuilt a sedan that didn't have a molded glass set provided, and that was a much more challenging and time consuming project that I will firmly put in the "avoidance" category for the next time! I ended up using report cover material and adhering with tape on the Mini and Micro Kystal Klear on the Monster. The tape keeps the plastic too far back, while the glue leaves some lumpy, though clear residue.
I built the brass and piano wire chassis on mostly on my RetroJig, but partially on a Precision jig (I can't bring myself to solder on that beautiful Corian yet!).
A 3D printed WinPod is in each, Ranch Design wheels and tires (SCC on the rear of the Monster), Dart details, homemade decals. These cars are a challenge to build due to the small size and clearances. I fabbed parts several times to make them work. I used baking soda and superglue to fair in the relocated Monster Mini flares, not something I will rush back to do because it is so hard to smooth. Of course my Milliput epoxy putty was dried out when I needed it most...
So thanks to Dave for making these Mini bodies available!
