Got the razor saws and files out. Cut out 8mm from the sides and back.

Lowered the body about 3mm by trimming the body mounts, axle bushing and motor stops and using lower profile Paul Gage 20084 tires, the same that I use on my small car builds.
A platform and rear window cover are next.
The bed's just barely able to carry a Sprite.

Very fun to see you create this, and it will be functional on your track too that makes it very special!!

When you see pics of transporters being used as race rigs the car is always hanging over the edges. Very cool conversion!

Now that is cool! The Sprite does fit, that's all you need to haul it around the track. You sir are brave man to take a saw to a VW bus. :)

I LOVE seeing stuff like this.. Can't wait to see how it progresses.
..although I must say, having owned a 1970 microbus, even a light race car will tax that powerplant !
I could barely do 60 on the highway if I had a passenger

Very cool work, love razor saws. You've TOTALLY inspired me to make one for my Porsche RS61, this will be prefect for my RS Bergrennen track :D
I don't want to clutter up your thread and will keep it to this selection, but here is my direction. I'll have to build a new chassis with a longer wheelbase. Thank you for being the first to take the razor saw to it!!!!

This might work well for others to fit larger WIDER Porsche's… ;)

Great pics of 1:1 conversions posted. I wonder if Plastruct or Evergreen has ribbed sheet plastic for the platform.
A Munter 356 on the back really stretches the limits...

...but a modified Kinder Mini is just fine.

Thought about having matching colors for the carrier and car. Will mull over this and get back to the Bugeye.
