Saw the ad on the back cover of the Model Cars Magazine for the 1/32 Avanti from AMT.

Back cover is pretty big stuff and it noted that "first kit being reintroduced in the 1:32 Scale Star Series, and noted too, "great basis for electric slot cars.

Picked one up for $14.99 tonight.

Yes it is true 1:32 it seems but slightly disappointed in all the flashing and in my case the left front corner panel was cut or molded wrong. Most will not notice this, but its there.

Have been always bummed that the 1/24 had so many choices and 1/32 had to rely on old kits off ebay or toy shows.

Hoping mine was an exception with quality and that indeed this is the "first kit of many for this series.

At that price point I was happy to see it, even if I do not care for the model itself.

Good to see them coming back.

It's àt least one of the All Star kits. I have a couple vintage ones and a resin so let let me know if you are interested.

I picked up an Avanti from my LHS the other day. Nice kit for an oldie. Should make a great slot car. :)

Picked it up today as well. Yes, heavy flash molding and TAKE CARE removing it from the headlight areas.

Not my kind of car, but had to check it out.



Simple kit and should make a fine slot car just like they did years ago. The decals are a nice touch.

Flash will need removing. I used 1000 grit to be careful.



At first, I thought this side was bad, but I took the body under my magnifier and seemed like heavy flash. I sanded it and it came out I suppose.

For the price, not bad. Hopefully they release others down the road. If this was a car I actually liked I'd be very happy. But I am pretty pleased just to see our scale get one more option for the builders out there.

Studebaker really pushed this one. ads in playboy to newsweek and of course all the usual car mags . I think I have a pic in an old road track of some guy racing one in Alaska. the only time I saw one on a track. they were seen on the 1/4 mile though. anyway the model has possibilities. http://www.studebaker-info.org/Avanti/AVGT/avgt.html

definitely not a slug. . I have the original amt slot car kit as well as the model kit. I was going to put the kit up on ebay. I guess I will build it now.

Wrote AMT about by driver side front left fender panel and they said if I sent a picture of it they would replace the body.

GREAT customer service, it wasn't real bad, but enough that I would always notice it!!

Assuming Harry your left front fender panel was acceptable.

With a good response from the 1/32 slot car community I hope this will show them we are voting with our wallets that this is a good way to go!!

Never was a real fan of the front end on those - but it is great to see a 1/32 release! Hopefully there will be more in the near future! :D
