Was intrigued by Munter's sidewinder application, so I grabbed another beat up Fly Panoz from the car box and installed a Slot It sidewinder pod into the stock chassis.



Did pretty much the same prep as the inline but went to a TSRF guide while I was at it. Drivetrain's all Slot It - 25k motor, 11t pinion, 38t spur, 17" rims. Flat interior tray of course.





Performance-wise, there's definitely an improvement with the sidewinder on my twisty wood track. Did a fastest lap of 5.781 vs. 5.967 with the inline. It's smoother too as I could do 5.8's consistently.

I love your Panoz roadsters. I always thought it was a very unique race car.

I am going the other way with mine. Milo gave me the shell of one that had been converted to rear engine and then stripped. I am going to make it a front engined car again, but with a difference. I have removed the front and back valences from the chassis and glued them to the body shell. I am making a brass chassis, but with a D3D scratch builder pod turned backwards holding the S-can motor and front wheels. The drive shaft is also on the can end so I will attach the coupling and drive shaft to it. The rear end is fabricated from a block of teflon that Luf gave me, and it will be floating on the chassis, as will the front pod.

I have no idea if it will work at all, but I have the pod and brass and body, and I can take it all apart and re-use the pieces if it doesn't. If it works, however, look out on front engine night.

I think I have one of the Panoz' around here somewhere. I might just give it a go. :) I know you can build it with either an inline or sidewinder now. :) Great ideas. 8-)
