Urethane tires?

Is it normal for urethane tires to coat the inside of your slot car body with loads of fine powder?
I just built a stocker with the PG supewide tires, and the tires are seemingly shredding. They are not touching anything but the track,no body or chassis rub. I'm using an M/T-5 motor, and its slides out thru the corners pretty good.
Just curious,as I have not used these before.
Thanks
Bob

If they are not trued they will sometimes "sand themselves" as you put miles on them. A lot of times it happens when I forget to contour the outer and inner edges. Leaving a hard edge on them can lead to that.

Thanks Harry, I don't have a razor yet,But I trued them the old fashioned way, then swapped the rear to the frt and trued those also, I did not however do anything as far as the outer contour goes,That must be it. I cut back on my track power from 12 to 11 to see if I was just spinning them up to much, the car is a bit heavy ,could that cause some of this as well?.

It could, your surface seems smooth enough but no matter how smooth you can sand them if you give them enough spin.
My cars have just a hint of a few "marbles". I thought I trued them...but noooooooo, my track is finishing the job :) In truth when I am drifting over the braid/slot I am likely catching it a little. But not a lot...they should last about 3 or 4 years at this rate :)

You did not say what sort of track you are running on. I have no experience with Paul Gage tires, but I have run Yellow Dogs quite a lot and while they do wear a lot faster than silicone tires they should last a reasonable amount of time. I believe that two different compounds of Paul Gauge tires are available, PGTs are Shore 40 and XPGs are softer, Shore 20. I would expect that the XPGs would wear faster in most cases. If your cars want to slide around a lot they will probly wear out ther tires faster than if the cars were more stuck down.

Urethane tyres wear quite fast compared to rubber and silicon. The marbles stuck to the inside of your body is quite normal for urethane tyres. I have this on the inside of my cras for both 1/32 and 1/24.
