A beater Mustang

Postby turbokev » Sat May 24, 2014 9:24 am

My 8 year old, Cooper.. is a Mustang guy. He loves them from all years.

He's taken quite an interest in slots and is really getting good at driving.

Well, he likes a couple of the 'beater' street stock series Artin chassied cars
that I've made to look like they've been raced hard.. and he asked me to
make one for him out of his prized AutoArt Mustang..

I gave him a day to think it over.. making sure he knew that once we started
the transformation there was no turning back. He assured me that he really
wanted a beat up car made out of the Mustang.. Soooo.. I took one of these:

and beat it up for him

Artin stocker chassis.. Ninco NC-1 motor, slot.it axles and 27t gear, CBD wheels, PG tires..
It's a great runner and he's thrilled with it..

I've got a Camaro running mate in progress now~

That is AWESOME! I love the tire rubs and body dents!
Looks like she would be right at home at the color short track! :D

As a curiosity - is the interior an Artin interior or is that a modified lexan try type or? Definitely fits the look - I like it!

Thanks ..

The interior is this picture:

printed on card stock.. then an Artin driver is glued to the picture where he belongs, and I cut down an Artin cage to fit.
Cage is glued to the roof first.. then the card/driver was put in, secured with tape, and glued in the corners.

That's great!

My 1:1 racing career started way back on cinder tracks and old beat-up cars ...

Nice job. I like the subtle rearrangement of the panel work.

That is excellent! So is the 4x in the background. Is that a Chevelle?
