Ooops!! Somedays things just get worse.

Oh dear. I was clear coating my Spridget yesterday when it had a coming together with the ground. Damn!
So, today I've spent more time than I wish stripping paint with aid of methylated spirits and cotton balls. All good I thought. But I notice the resin has softened in a couple of spots. Fortunately it doesn't seem to have affected the outer shell, but rather in a thick area on the inside of the shell on the tail section.
Can this be fixed? Will it firm up again? Or will it get worse? I'm really not having a good day. Help!?!

I cannot speak with regard to resin and methylated spirits, but I had an experience with 91% alcohol and resin. After soaking in the alcohol the body softened and twisted, among other things. I set it aside and just chalked it up to experience. After it dried I was surprised that it more or less returned to its original condition. If you wash off the residue of the methylated spirits it might be alright. Don't give up or get too down yet!
The 7th post in this thread shows the car in question -
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=39. I think you can salvage the Spridget!!!!

Thanks Patrick for giving a gal hope. Methylated Spirit is about 98% alcohol (not the fun kind) so I'll keep my fingers crossed. I've doused it well with water in the hopes of neutralizing it.

Embs. Break out some of the other type of alcohol, it wont fix your car but you'll feel better, While the gooey bits of your resin come good.
Resin is quite resilient. It'll take all sorts of abuse.
Why do we drop things at the last stage like clear, never ever happens when its in primer. :(

Ted, your solution worked wonders. My brother dropped in from the other end of the state. So glad he bought beer with him because malt sandwiches seem to have been on the menu tonight.
