Yes, the SSK was huge. Its one of those cars that seem wildly out of scale in real life, too, like the 6.5L Bentley. I'll be watching for this one. Good luck, David!

Yes I think it will be excellent. By the way, it's Peter. David is my brother, the Crown Prosecuter who nailed Canada's first terrorist to the wall - life in prison.

I confused a conversation with Wolseley Hornet with you. I have it straight now. You're in Ottowa, right? I sent you some motors once. Wolseley Hornet is in the Midlands in England and had a Narrowboat at one time. I still get Whitworth British Standard and British Standard Cycle confused! Now I've done it with people from Ontario and England! When I lived in Ontario (London), I encountered BSW and BSC at the same time. I was hopelessly twizzled.
Sorry about that, Peter. BTW, congrats to your brother!

Well, not me because I am not that smart :)
Looks like a great project. Building like this is fun.

I quite like the SSK so went looking for these kits on eBay
so aside from the $45 postage to Australia I found a few reasonably priced. Bu then I found this it makes you wonder to people do research - do they check who else has that for sale or do they just hope for a sucker?

Hey Whitworth,
I'd come round for a drink but you would only call me square! :banana-rock:
Yours
Roberston.

I wondered the same myself. The Pyro kits are all over the map pricewise and like you, I really wonder what some of these folks take us for. Postage is another issue. From Europe, rates are pretty standardised with International "signed for" being the norm. Rates from the U.S. (to Canada) are a little higher for similar service if you look at the postal schedules, but it seems many U.S. (and Canadian) Ebay vendors want to enhance their profits by overcharging for postage and handling. I frequently see $5-$10 items to be shipped for $30. Also never bid on an item where the postage has not been identified without asking what it will be. I did this about six months ago when I discovered an hour left on a kit I wanted and bidding was low. I was charged triple what I expected.

OK, it's really teeing me off. The body is multi part, of course, but there are no alignment pegs on anything. Gluing, getting everything in place and holding it there is nearly impossible. Trying to tack with superglue is not helping.

It seems like Pyro went through a Lindbergh phase. The only dependable way I have found is to glue a thin strip of styrene to bridge from one part to the other then add the other part, aligning it with the use of the strip. It doesn't solve the usual problem of the angle in relation to the running boards. The only way I solved that was to glue the sides on quickly and while they are still pliable, set them for drying using the running board and fenders as a guide. Good luck.

The only color I've ever seen on racing SSKs was white. If you can get access to the 1980s video "The Marque of a Legend" there are few minutes of a restored SSK being flogged, in anger, around a desert track. I remember those Pyro kits.....as a youngster I often ended up with as much glue on the outside as I had on the actual joints! You're right, it looks.....hefty.
