Hello Folks, This will be my entry for the GVSCC "Targa" proxy which starts soon.......there is a separate thread for this series in the proxy section.

After I read through the rules for this event, I went to the "race shop" to see what I had that qualified, and also what I would be interested in building/modifying to comply with the rules...............I came across a Fly Porsche 908 that I had built over ten years ago, and with a few mechanical changes it would be a good candidate.

The Body, as mentioned, is a Fly Porsche 908 that has been around the block a few times......and has it share of knicks/scratches, so, it will need a quick clean up, but, not too much as the Targa cars were not all that pristine.......flying stones, and hitting chickens/goats will do that!!

The chassis is an oldie, and not a lightweight, but having seen pics. of the tracks (particularly the hillclimb) I don't think a few extra grams will be a big penalty. It has had its "make me legal" refurb and is ready to go.

That could be the car to beat, Chris. I'm glad you are joining us for this fun.

There are still spots available for any others who have a car that fits the rules and is ready to go.

We plan to start the fun about Nov. 1st.

What is that motor and who makes that crown gear (I like the reinforcement on the outside of the gear ring)?

How do you like the PM guide? I=It's certainly advanced, but is the pivot point or the leading tip of the guide the important factor when considering the distance between the guide and the rear tires?

Allan, the crown gear is a Parma King Crown Gear. They're available in 26T to 35T. Originally made to fit 1/8" axles, they're also available with a brass insert to fit 3/32" axles. That FK type motor could be most any wind. Chris will know its origin. :)

I had the opportunity to run this car on Luf's Targa Burnaby track for the GVSCC Targa proxy series. Apart from being a gorgeous jewel of a build, this is a driving MONSTER!

I have never gone faster on this track than I did this past Monday, achieving my best ever lap of 7.101 seconds. With more time, I think I could break into the 6's, a significant achievement for this track.
