55 Chevy - first ever oval racer build

I'm embarking on my first ever oval racer, a 55 Chevy. In particular, I think the influence is a Harry build that's stayed in my mind for quite awhile. It had exhaust pipes sticking out from the fenders.
So, I've assembled parts - Revell model kit body, Paul Gage tires, Slot It aluminum and plastic 17" rims - and built an adjustable wheelbase chassis with the PM motor bracket and TSRF guide.

So far, so good.

The 55 makes a killer Stock car, and looks like you have a great start!

Chassis's rolling now.

Got the Dremel and half file out and radiused the wheel arches. Nice to not have to deal with resin dust.

Time to get it running, do some modeling and mounting the body.
Thanks for the encouragement and to those for posting their helpful builds. There's no oval in my locale but it'll be my "American Iron" car for Monday and Friday road course racing in Vancouver. Might get some flak for the tires sticking out.
Later.

Got the chassis going. Cut up some 1/8" brass tube for axle spacers, screwed in a Fly Racing 18K boxer motor with 9t pinion matched with a SCX 24t crown and made electrical contact with Slot It silicone wiring and a TSRF guide and copper braid.

With body, it comes in at a hefty 97g. Changing to a small S can would probably knock off 10g.
Runs nice and smooth.

Looks good, Dan! Don't worry, you won't be the only one with tires sticking out on Detroit Iron night at Luf's.
