As I posted on Bob's thread, I'm waiting to see which one of you comes up with a "roostertail dispenser" to add to the dirt track realism.

I've been fooling around with different ways of making Ackerman steering units for quite a while. I got the bug from Phil down under at Slot Car Outhouse. He makes them so small, he can get them under an English sports car in 1/32. Not only that, its actuated by the rear of the guide, so he can adjust toe-in, camber, and caster by simple bending of brass bits after its on the car. I was looking for a link last night but ran out of time. I'll look again.

I should feel guilty,, but I don't! This so cool to watch the cars go through the corners, that it worth every nail biting, screwdriver throwing minute of it! What are you using for the center hole in the drag link? I used the smallest tubing I had and cut a piece 3/32nd tall soldered to the link.

Just so ya'll don't think I left Dave holding the bag on this, this little gem is about to go under my 36 modified chassis!

2mm brass rod for pins, then peen them from both sides. I soldered 1/8" tubing to ends to hold the pins. That's also what I used for the king pins. Same thing, peened on both ends. it holds them in, and you can tighten them up when they get a little sloppy from racing.

I know that Bob & Shotgun are going through the grunt work of designing this system, but, if I could make a suggestion, once perfected, maybe this is a piece perfect for 3D printing? ..........bibbster?

I think I remember that Phil used a washer, soldered top and bottom on the king pins, and again on the tie rods.

That is pretty neat! Doesn't Chase Cars make a 3D front end?
