About 4 years ago, after 44 years out of the hobby, I came back and joined the GVSCC with Luf and the gang. At first I was amazed at the scale detail compared to the bubble blobs we were running in the 60s. Then I was surprised that everyone ran plastic chassis. Our club even had a rule, no brass chassis. As club members started to enter proxies, more and more of us started building our own cars. It was like old times again.
I never was into those fancy piano wire and brass chassis, they came just as I left the hobby in the late 60s. My basic style of build was a brass pan with a floating Dynamic pod. Think Slot.it only made in metal. I hung around this site for a while before I joined, but the rush to scratch building lured me in.
I'm happy too!
