Chassis building beginner set ?

For the brief amount of time I have been building chassis. (2 1/2yrs) I like the bibbster can't emphasize how important it is to clean the brass and or wire before soldering. And "highly" recommend using the Harris Stay Clean Flux. As far as solder I will not use anything but silver solder.
The other recommendation is to just practice practice practice on any small pieces of brass you can find.

This only the sixth chassis I have ever done. "Not hard stuff". Just make sure you have clean parts. And practice.

I think the way to go on this is the piano wire. Take it to your LHS and test to see which one gives the best fit, and the buy a length. The holes on your board seem the same as mine, but the nail in your picture is thicker.

Todd, Yep that is it. Only ones I have built are all there on my website. Use the right stuff, tools and practice a bit it's not all that tough.

Just got my board in the mail today, I ordered the first day it was posted so I assume I got one of the correct ones.
I did a quick hole test and found that Jumbo paper clips fit mine great! not to tight,not to sloppy. I think they will work great cut in half and use two legs at a time with handle.

Good to know, since these jumbo paperclips are probably "universal" everywhere (no problem of metric or imperial sizing).

Good information, Taylor. We'll get this straightened out one way or another and it will be good for everyone.

I'm beginning to think that the ceramic casting for the boards is varied only by the moisture content of the slip (soft clay), before it is fired, not as a designed variation. That being the case, its much better to do as you have done and find something that fits, rather than take chances on reaming the holes out a bit.
