El Camino **Fantasy Trans-Am**

I've had this one almost done for quite some time. I got lazy though and mounted the chassis with hot glue. Its one of my resin bodies mounted on a Pioneer chassis. This was inspired by dge467 several years ago when he posted his El Camino on the old forum. It took me about a year to actually come up with the model to cast this one, but it was worth the search. Decals were from a slotcar-fever set I had in the spares.

Boy does that spark memories, not so much of that type car but of another car that had a short but successful time in Trans-Am. I would love to see somebody produce a resin 66 Dodge Dart like the one Bob Tullius ran a couple of seasons in Trans-Am racing. I believe that was the car that won the first Trans-Am race at Daytona. My memories of this man and his Group 44 is on a somewhat personal nature. In the mid 70s I bought a low dollar D-Production Triumph TR 4 and went to my two SCCA driver's schools and ran my first two novice races with. Being a person who wanted for knowledge I drove to the Group 44 shop, I can not remember if it was in Northern Va. or DC. However I met Bob and Brian F. of Triumph Spitfire fame. You must remember that Bob was the East Coast factory Triumph racer at the time and Kass Kassner was the West Coast Factory man. Well to get off of my soap box it sure would be great to see that Dart Body in resin to fit either a Scaley Mustang or Camaro chassis.

I just realised Embs, these guys probably never heard the term Ute.

A ute is a sedan sized, truck. Ute is Aussie slang for Utility.

The term comes from it being a "utility vehicle" or as the man who is credited with suggesting it's invention something suitable for using around the farm on a weekday and taking the Mrs to town on the weekend.

Oh. I very nearly bought one of them last time I bought a car. Black and white Mainline Ute with jarrah floorboards in the tray. I rather wish now I hadn't let common sense take over and make me by a Mitsi Lancer.
