From the rear, the left crown that has no boss and is rivoted to the pulley and drives the left wheel, all these free wheel on the axle.
The right crown is fixed to the axle and drives the right wheel.
The FAAS gear runs freely on the axle.
There are 3x 80 pitch pinions inside the FAAS gear.
These spider pinions are soldered to a one off custom made boss that houses the 3 cut down motor shafts that locate the 3 pinions and the outer part of the FAAS gear (looks like a ring gear) is soldered to this boss. - Dave.

Everything is clear now, thank you very much !

The boss is from brass or bronze, isn´t it ?

That is too cool, what a work of art!!! If you decide to build another one please take the time to document the build and share it here, I would love to try my hand at this someday.

Love this kind of build!

Very talented scratch build.

If someone wanted to mock up something similar - Some of these kind of parts can be found from 1/24 vintage offerings. The Womp Womp was offered with a factory 4wd setup using pulleys and belts - hard to find an original of course but there are lots of rental belt-drive 'whisper jet' pieces out there that could be used to cobble up a similar setup - all in 1/24 of course.

Also, There was a working differential brass gear set available back in the 60s - offered by 'Tradeship', and works pretty much the way this one was set up. They can still be found, and work pretty well, if you can search one up.

Again very cool build!

Hi Guys, the boss that holds the spur gear is made from bronze, it was a one off piece made by a master machinist for me, he also cut the crown gears as they are also custom made.
I couldn't have done this without his help - Thank You Steve Murch.

Just had the Showdown cars arrive this evening. You are one talented builder. More coming on that soon.

And this is certainly above average.
