Fortunately I was able to go to my local Slot car center and got the Lucky Bob's, and some snap bushings that I missed on a previous order.
It was nice as the owner asked me what I was doing and we started talking about proxies and of course I had to share the forum name so he could let others know about it. :)

Like Harry said, I clean everything before I apply flux. I like to use the green synthetic steel pads like Scotch Brite. It seems easier to use than sandpaper or steel wool & creates less mess. I sometimes get a whole pack for a buck at one of the local dollar stores.
