Brass Chassis Fiat 2000 and Friends

Since these pics were taken have added brass plate between rails in front of motor and put in smaller front tires. Tail was moving a lot, now it handles very well.

Scaley Countryman chassis and early Airfix Mini Countryman body. My first project. Slot.it 17x10 wheels 34 t slot.it and 12 t NSR. 19.5K slot.it, and plastic braces. Small weight at rear of motor. Handles as well as the green Mini that follows and just a tad slower than the blue and red Fiat. Yeah the front tires are awful, but it works that way.



Newer Aifix Mini Countryman body, but this time on a Slot.it HRS2 chassis. Same 19.5k motor. Geared 11t/33t Slot.it. 17x8 CB wheels



Here are the four cars and a underneath view. The Blue and red Fiat has 16.5x8 Slot.it wheels, 19.5k motor and 11t/33t Slot.it gears.



Next is either another sidewinder or maybe an anglewinder with either a Slot.it small can or boxer motor.

The brass chassis and the Scaley chassis were the only one's that took a lot of time. The brass chassis is actually the fourth iteration. The fastest one will surprise you. It is the red and blue Fiat 2000. The main reason is the red and blue one weighs only 79 grams while the brass one weighs 96 grams. At that weight even the piranha motor has a hard time moving the car. On the next iteration I will get rid of the motor mount and just solder the motor to the chassis rails and make the guide holder smaller and not use as much solder, which will help in the weight department.

This is the best I can do at the moment. The size is 8' by 16' and has about 68 feet per lane. It is the 3rd car in a 3 1/2 car garage. It is all flat except for a slight rise at the end of the back straight. Mostly 90 degree corners. All the scenery was done using wood blocks under window screen and then plaster of paris. The plaster sheets did not work so well. The meadows were down by just laying the plaster of paris on the MDF itself. Used a rock mold for the rocks. The trees, all except four were done by my wife (tumbleweed pieces and scenery material). Scenery was meant to look like what is outside the house, all except the volcano. My wife wanted a volcano since there was one close to where she used to live. The next thing on the list are grandstands and a lap counter. I am going to try and build a lap counter from one of these small single board computers and some displays. I know this is the hard way, but I am a retired electronics engineer so I have to try.
