Decaled, paint detailed and Future finish are done.

Lesson learned. Do NOT use old Solvaset. Made a right mess of my first roof decal and did I have to scramble as it dissolved into the yellow finish.

Got some blue colored inserts going. Interior trays in the works and then my least favorite job - doing windows.

Runs great. Can keep up with my stock Slot Its thanks to the wide track and fat rear wheels/tires.

Pretty much done. Went to blue wheel inserts, got the interior tray with driver figure installed and filled the grille with fine metal mesh.

The windows will eventually get done to really finish it.

Good outcome.

Ran the Mini on my short and twisty wood track to see how it'd do against my other fast metal chassis small cars including a flared Lotus Europa and Bugeye Sprite.

Image

The track's a three laner with a 38' average powered at 10 volts. It's a shortened copy of Luf's old upstairs Targa track at Archer Raceway in Vancouver, Canada. The elevation changes brings different elements to driving and tuning.

Image

The outcome was good. The Mini's now my second fastest small car.

1. flared Lotus Europa (84g) - 5.719 seconds
2. flared Mini PU (94g) - 5.837
3. flared Bugeye Sprite (91g) - 5.901
4. std. Lotus Europa (94g) - 5.964

On this track, this is stock Slot It country times.

Very pleased with the modeling and performance results.

There was a tread on Mini's & Mini pick ups? I can't find. We have a fellow racer how wants a resin Mini pick up body. Where can he buy one? Thanks

Smoking Hot Ride!

Great job Dan, but then again how can you wrong with anything painted Camel yellow and the famous Smokin Joe livery!

Are those these DMC (?) decal set?

Awesome job Dan - absolutely love that mini....

For reference the mini kit is made by Bruce Kinder (one of the nicest individuals I have ever dealt with).

If it doesn't break any rules or offend then you can contact Bruce for further details: brucekinder@hotmail.com

Now i just have to get cracking on my own mini build :)

@ ShotgunDave - Your builds are pretty neat too, so I appreciate the comment.

@ Almafan 55 - PM'ed info.

@ F1 Fan - Yeah, I hear that anything done in Camel livery becomes a faster car. Congratulations on taking the SCC Canada MR Slotcar proxy. The decals were from Virage, a European decal supplier. Can we expect a Camel liveried N.A. Gr. 5 proxy entry from you? Might as well. Good to hear from you.

@ miveson - Mark, glad you like it. You type faster than me.
