Todd, I really do appreciate your suggestions, and the trouble you've taken with the pictures.
The thing is, I have to keep as much room as possible on the platform for the "chair man".
I think Frankenslot.de are going to get round the problem by using an anglewinder drive to the sidecar wheel, and having its axle extending to just past the midline of the main body, and driving the rear wheel with spur gears.
I'll keep these suggestions in mind while I press on along this track for the present. It may be unwarranted optimism, but I've got a feeling that making the chassis heavier, ensuring that all the wheels spin freely, and using a really sticky tyre on the rear , together with using one of Ed Bianchi's Slide Guides to reduce friction and drag, will result in it running well enough to be worthwhile. If not, I've still got the option of driving both the rear and the sidecar wheels.
If we do get as far as having a Fun Run proxy, it'll be interesting to see the variety of chassis designs that people come up with. That is if there are enough bike-crazed slot racers in HRW.
All the best,
David.
