Definitely the car that was the beginning of the best decade in slot cars. That car plus the Scaley and Fly Ford GT40s were the big step toward the amazing variety we have today. Always good to see them again. I dig them out from time to time just to revisit.

Yes this is great stuff here. Thanks for taking the time to write all this up with pics, I know it took some time but it was well worth it. You will soon have a Ferrari to go with it.

Thanks sir, and very good info. I did polish it and forgot to mention it.
I'll include them in the list. Just makes it better for references.

Many thanks Harry for an excellent write-up.
I got to the section on replacing the braids and fastening them with the 2mm grub screws... wow! I would never of thought to do that - excellent!

Harry, Thanks for that awesome how-to article. You great photography makes everything clear & easy to see. A plus for me cuz the eyes aren't what they used to be.

Harry,
I love using the 2mm grub screws to secure the lead wires. Since I started using that technique, I've not had a lead wire come loose during a race.
Something to discuss; Do you think it best to place the screw so that it holds the braid against wire? Since we do replace the braids, why subject the lead wires to possible cuttung by the screws?

Well, I put the wire on top of the braid and tighten. Just the best connection possible in my eyes. I have removed these several times and hardly a few strands were damaged.
Good braid lasts a long time. Good wire does too. When we make lead wires we always make them a little longer than needed. If I have to trim a little insulation off when it come to changing braids, I am willing to do that.
Just me thinking out loud. The best connection is to solder, which I do a lot. But I agree with you that this set screw method is by far the best. Easy to do, great connection.

Good idea. I'll try that and see what kind of damage I can do.
