Digital to Analog:?Possible

I'd have put this question in the digital section; only I didn't want to cause unnecessary distress.
There are lots of articles on how to fit digital chips into analog cars, but I haven't see anything on converting the other way.
Will digital cars run on analog track - and if not, does anyone know what you have to take out?
OK, I know it sounds like a silly question - why not just buy analog cars in the first place? But you sometimes see a potential second-hand bargain which might be a real bargain if converting it to run on analog track was straightforward.
David.

The only cars that are a lost cause are SCX. The funky guide system makes them a lot of work to convert.
Other than that, just what he said. Carrera needs nothing. Others just hardwire them.

Carrera digital and Scalextric digital cars both run on analog tracks.
Carrera digital cars will always have maximum dynamic brakes when running in analog and Scalextric digital cars will have zero dynamic brakes. To be able to adjust dynamic braking with the brake pot on a high end controller, you will have to bypass the digital chip in the cars.

I take every digital chip out of any digital car that I buy (all Carrera so far) even though that car will "run" on analogue. Why? Because there is a performance penalty for running you power through the chip. With Carrera, you can even leave the chip in the car if you want. You just unplug the chip from the guide and motor and then plug the motor directly into to the guide plug. However you will sacrifice the lights. The lights can be restored by replacing the digital board with a lighting board which will screw right in place of the digital chip.

Is there anything special on the lighting board?
