Looks like you're going to employ my "Fly Upgrade":

Step #1: Remove beautiful Fly body from original Fly chassis.

Step #2: Install HRS-2 chassis under beautiful Fly body.

Works great, lasts long time.



Fly - Converting racers to tuners for decades!

Looks like the 1970 Le Mans livery. At one time that was highly sought. I have no idea how rare it is today. Regardless, definitely worth some TLC, and in good hands.

I'm still trying to figure out the white dot on the side. Kinda looks like who ever was suppose to put the numbers on was maybe a little drunk and missed the dot so they painted a white square around the number. :lol:

I've been to the SVRA (Sport Vintage Racing Association) rally at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the last two years and there's about four Lola T70's that show up. If you like old race cars there were 710 of them there the first year (2014). Just about any race car you can think of other than a Chaparral.

On Saturday night they have fireworks and a concert. Last year they had Blood,Sweat and Tears. This year they are having Three Dog Night. They also have a celebrity race with over thirty former drivers. Occasionally you see them just walking around. Last year they did a tribute to the Unser Family, I got to pat Bobby Unser on the back and shake hands with Al Unser Sr. I couldn't get over how small they are, when you see them on TV they look a lot bigger than they are. Guess that's why they were so good, weights everything.

With a general admission ticket you get to walk around and see all the cars up close and talk to the owners about them. You can walk through Gasoline Alley, the garages built for the Formula One series or just about anywhere else you want to go, but you can't go up into the private boxes or the tower. A lot of the owners of these cars rent the garages for the week and a lot of them just keep them outside and cover them up at night. You can sit in the stands about anywhere you want to watch them race. They race these cars on the Oval and the Road Course. The racing goes on about all day. A friend of mine has a 2005 Indy Lights car and I'm on his pit crew. We don't actually do much except strap him in and get him ready to go but we do get to go out on pit row when he's racing. No changing tires or putting in gas.

I attended this event last year and it was the bargain buy of the year. Hope to attend again in 2016.

Well, been a busy time in the last couple days but I am working on it.

I will keep the original chassis Marty. I'm stubborn (stupid?) so I like the challenge. My others work pretty good and the goal is to have it race with with them.

I know that you want to stick with the original chassis, but if you ever decide to try something else I recommend the Shapeways 3D chassis by Changing Gears. I have installed that chassis in my Flyslot Lola and now it really flies. It uses a slot.it sidewinder pod and uses their spherical bushings for the adjustable front suspension.

After this one I might try a new chassis. I've seen the CG one and looks appealing. Might go brass though, have not decided :)

Well, long overdue but finished :)



Used the Sloting Plus Victor II self-aligning bushings this time. I really like using them when I can.



Also used the better stranded wire from SCC, ScaleAuto #1603 guide and of course the setscrew method for attaching the wire up front.

I also shot the entire chassis with a fresh coat of flat black to make it look a little better.



Same method of turning down the original wheels to use as inserts in the CB Design wheels.









Runs just like I wanted it to. We had a little match up last night and we had some great fun.

Others might like to explore all the 3D/Brass options. For myself, I like the challenge of bringing the original back to life. I want my collection to run with each other and also be compatible with all of my friend's models come race time.

Took me awhile though...too many irons in that fire as we say :whistle:

Man i love that car! I have a plain white boring one. Live these fly classics.
