Need 16D motors for Sprint track Project

Postby Bigbob47 » Fri Feb 20, 2015 2:20 pm

I have been searching for Parma 16D motors for my Sprint car Track. My brother and I are using the widest radius Carrera track (total 4 lanes) and are modifying Racing Champion 1/24 Sprint car models to run on the track.
Two things:
-I have been searching for 4 16D Motors for these cars and cannot find any. Anyone wanting to sell some please contact me at "rkswenson1@comcast.net".

- Second, has anyone ever painted Carrera track a clay color?

Thanks, Bob

Parma still makes 8 or 10 types of 16D's.

The availability of Parma 16D's has been a problems for about a year. Essentially, they haven't had any or they've had darned few. Bob, I would consider using the Proslot SpeedFX 16D, that's available new, or else keep your eyes opened for what you want on epay.

I have a bunch of the Parmas. What are they worth? I would only want to replace them with Piranhas or H&R Jack rabbits. Tomorrow I'll go look and see what I have in the box. There are some antiques in there, too, Russkit, K&B, etc.

Do you need regular Deathstar type 16Ds or the home set type? ProSlot has a Deathstar equivalent, but they are expensive.

Pro slot makes a replacement for the parma 16d that is smaller in size about the same size as the falcon 7 motors . They have 47.000 rpm and cost about 14.00 bucks each part number is ps 4002 I have 4 in stock. If this would help you.. we use them in our hardbody class to replace the 16d motor

I looked, and there are adjustables, Death Stars, and some oldies in the box.

Regarding painting Carrera track.. I have painted every piece of Carrera track I have ever owned, and some of my friend's track too. I have not used a dirt color, but I am sure it is all the
same. You can either paint the rails and clean them off afterward with your thumb nail, or you can tape the rails and peel off the tape. Clean the track so there is no oil or rubber residue. The easiest way is to wipe it with naptha (lighter fluid) or you can use a soapy cleaner and a brush. If you use soap, be sure to rinse it well and let it dry. If you use naptha, it will evaporate quickly, but have good ventilation and no flames near by. Use a flat latex paint. You don't have to use top-of-the-line paint. I usually thin it with a little water so it will get into the texture better. Brush or roller it well into the track surface. I always use at least two coats and prefer three coats. Let it dry between coats. That's all there is to it. Your track will look better, and tires will hook up much better whether you use rubber, urethne or silicone tires. Everyone should paint their track IMO.

Thanks to all that replied.
I finally found some Parma 16D motors. However, I will look at the Proslot and Pirhanas mentioned here as well.
I really appreciate the comments on painting the track too.

If anyone out there has some Dynamic chassis parts they want to sell, please let me know.

Thanks again, Bob
