While not nearly as impressive as the builds above - I can confirm that the guides fit REALLY nicely into a Professor Motor Slot Classic adjustable chassis - ala RSR Porsche proxy!

Definite two thumbs up on the guide design and fit!

Update on the two Alfas shown above.

I am building them for the U13 proxy over on SCI, and wanted to compare them to the Sprites I used in the last SPR proxy. The U class is for stock wheelbase and track, and no flares on the wheels. It must be powered by a low rev slim can such as BWA or M/T. I wanted to test to see which was faster, so I did the test on lane 1 of Luf's Targa. Alfa 10.1 seconds, Sprite 10.4. The flared Alfa is for the UX class which has unlimited motors, and bodies can be flared. Alfa 8.6, Sprite 9.8. The two Alfas have D3D pods as shown, the Sprites have totally scratch built fixed brass chassis. All body screws are backed off a bit.

Now I know the Alfas will be my proxy cars. I still have a couple more D3D pods and resin bodies to build up. Two sidewinders and another super slim can.

Update on Front Motor Panoz

I raced the Panoz in earnest for the first time tonight in our Front motor class racing. It ran smooth and was very well planted on the track. I ran it for 12 heats and won a few of them.

As the heats progressed the times dropped as I got use to its drivability and by the end I had its lap time down to 8.0. For a heavy car with a stock motor in the front, this is an impressive speed. The closest front motor cars I have are a Fly BMW and a Monogram Greenwood Corvette, but they run in the mid 8s. My Fly front motored Panoz with stock plastic chassis runs in the high 8s. I am gratified that my design idea worked, and the D3D pod helped it to happen.

Up-date on the Alfas

As stated above, the two Alfas with D3D pods are currently running in the U13 Proxy. The slim can one #45 has won both of the last two races in its class, and the #44 was on the pole for one and won the other. D3D pods are performing well, I would say.

Nice work Keith, I like the design features using the d3d products.

As a test of the versatility I plan on using the super slimlines on a 1/32 midget from Shotgun, and also on a 1/32 sprint from Bob. I have done some test fitting and I believe it can be done.

Once I go to the hardware store and get a roundtoit , I'll post some pics.

We are starting a project to turn 1/32 models of pre-1941 cars into slot cars.
'30-'32-'34-'36-'40 Fords, '32 Plymouths, '32 and '37 Chevys will be turned into hotrod slot cars, using the D3D superslimline chassis.
The first prototype, pictured here, is a '32 Ford roadster.
With a rectangle taken out of the floorpan and shortening the floorboard the chassis fits nicely into the bottom of the car.
The motor is low enough that only a small unnoticeable amount had to be ground out of the bottom front of the seat.
Added a square plastic tube horizontally in the rear for a chassis mount, and made a round plastic tube into a front chassis mount, extending down from inside the hood. Using just two screw mounts makes for good body rock.
We're still experimenting with getting wheels that look right (these are Scaley Sport American Classics, what i had laying around)
Car drives pretty good on our wood track and stays in the slot.
Looking forward to the guys building more of these over the summer.
