We here in the HBMRC club race the grp5 cars as a class
We run on wood tracks with a gloss finish
As a rule of thumb for us is swap the pod for the white slot-it pod as the sideways one has alot of flex
We mostly converrt them to sidewinder but if sticking with anglewinder the spanish king works really well
Also for short track the slot-it 21500 rpm is a really good motor to go for
Some of us here are using the tape trick and is of a good benefit

Well I am not Crockett, but I am familiar with the tape trick.

Basically you use a piece of tape to dampen the movements of the moveable parts of the chassis. Just think in your mind about the chassis slamming into the motor pod during a left turn, then immediately slamming into the motor pod when the car turns to the right. With the tape in place, the "slamming" does not happen.

There are magnetic and spring systems available from several manufacturers that do the same thing, but the tape is cheaper.

Buy one roll of tape and you can do many many cars for pretty much the same or less than one suspension kit
We here mostly use fibre type tape it seems to work that little bit better
