On a three lane track running at 10 volts without magnets cars with Slot.it 18.5K motors would pull 6 amps from time to time, but mostly they used an amp or so. If it was me and I had a four lane track I would spring for the 10 amp power supply. It looks like there is a trimmer adjustment on the front panel that can be used to correct the voltage reading if you are really fussy.

I have a commercial track, 8 lanes but I'm searching for a PS that runs a little slower for my younger drivers. Do you think this PS can push around 90 ft on 8 lanes? Speed isn't the objective in this case.

This appears so far to be a great unit, I spent the extra $20 and got the 10amp unit. We have a class that we call over fifty which are original 1960s cars mostly with 36Ds and a couple of others from that era. Some of those motors seem to be quite thirsty for electricity.
