Vintage Cox Score

Along with the Monogram track (posted elsewhere), I was fortunate to score 2 vintage Cox cars.

The mag chassis Chaparral 2D has a broken and repaired guide tongue:

The tupperware iso-fulcrum Chaparral 2E:

Both cars are runners, which is fine....I didn't have either one before and the price was right....free for the asking.
They came with what I believe are two Monogram F1 chassis....

All in all, a decent find and good restoration projects for this winter.

The Monogram chassis are for the set cars. Looks like they came from the 1/24 Indy Lotus set. Riverside set with Chap 2 and Mclaren used same chassis with a pan attached for the wider bodies. I make the Lotus 38's if you want some bodies for those frames, also have the basic trim. Just let me know.
The 2E is nice and looks complete, that is a great collector car, as is the 2D. You got two cars that most collectors feel are among the 10-20 cars everybody wants. Glad you were able to get them. I am working on a buck to make a one piece vac formed window insert for the 2D. I have hopes, but it might be more than I can do.
I can make you a spoiler wire and an exhaust for the 2E.

Great score! I am still looking for the Chappy coupe. Those look like they will clean up nicely.

Lucky Boy.. :D
The long drop arm on the 2D "Team Modified" chassis should be relatively easy to find, and Ortmann make some repro urethanes with Firestone sidewall markings, (molds taken from the original tires) should you need new boots !!

Cox Gold!
Those two Chappies look like they will be relatively easy restorations. Excellent find. Very happy for you.

Rastas,
The iso-fulcrum chassis was used late in several cars including the Cucaracha and the Super Cucaracha (with the hard top) as well as the 2E.
There is also a 1/32 version that was under the purple 1/32 Cucaracha and what may have been called the International series (Ford MkIV and a couple others) using clear or lightweight bodies.

Such a deal! It's always nice to see that there are still some cherrys to be had out there.
Is that an original Aurora screwdriver hiding in the duff in the bottom of the tupperware?
