Hi Guys: I am hoping this is the right place to be, my husband and I have been cleaning out his late fathers belongings, and we found a bunch of slot cars, 12 to be exact, and 2 semi trucks with trailers. All of them are in the original package with the directions, never been used, I would hate to let kids play with these if they are of some value to a collector/admirer of these cars. This is a list of what cars are here, they are all AFX brand. 3 AFX magna traction, 2 AFX magna-sonic, 4AFX G-plus, 3 AFX flame thrower the semi's are 2 AFX lited rigs. I can take some pics if needed. I think the cars are from the late 70- early 80's

These are actually Aurora cars, A/FX was one of their trademarks. The Magnatraction cars came out in 1974, the semis first appeared in 1979. For each car or truck Aurora usually did many different paint jobs, some of those were very common, but a few were very rare. There is a book by Bob Beers that rates that. If you have cars that are in the original packaging those would be much more valuable. I'm sure that the collectors out there would like to see pictures of the collection.

Those cars all bring back memories of my first slot car set. I had several G Plus cars (they were fast) and the trucks.
Being pretty much mint in box they would all be of value to collectors - there is a HO forum on here - so hopefully some of the HO guys will see this post and be able to give you some advice.

I'm sorry for the loss of your father in law, he had a nice collection of cars.

The 2 trucks which are still in the package and the Magnasonic Javelin & Road Runner are worth the most, the others are more common.
You may want to check on ebay to see what they are worth money wise, Bob Beers book will rate them as Dr. D said.

They're all almost 40 years old & in great shape by the pictures you took, don't be in a hurry to sell them quickly.

Sorry for your family's loss.
The pictures you've provided show some excellent examples of Aurora's work.
Hope you plan to keep them, get them in track shape and enjoy them for many years to come.
