HO routed (magnetless) dragstrip : braking

At the end of the drag strip have a 1/2" to 1" dead zone with no braid. Then have braid as per the rest of the track. Just place a dead short across the braid in this section. This will give you max braking in the slow down zone. My guess is is you wont need more that one foot to pull the cars up.

Voltage? Thats up to you. Anything from 8 to 16V should be OK. Amps for a stock HO?? Im guessing 1amp per lane would be heaps.

Concerning the powersupply, I have a 13v 8A (a lab PS). I plan to use it for the 4lanes Ho and the 4/6lanes 1/32 track. We'll see if I'll be able to use it on the dragstrip too.

COncerning the "dead short", I'll try to find some infos on this, to be honest I'm a bit afraid of the dead short word :D But I get the idea. I will be cooler than any "mechanical" slowdown I thought about (slope, brush, I don't know).

By the way I will not use braid but copper tape (with modified cars). So no magnet traction at all (even the motors).

Dont be concerned with the "dead short" concept. its the same as dialing up max brakes on your controller, except that its pernanantly on max brakes in this slow down zone. The slow down zone is completely seperate from the other drag strip part of the track where you have 12V connected. The short will just mean the motor will produce maximum braking force. This force can not exceed the initial max force when you initially apply 12V to it, so it will not harm the motor.
