Sideways out of the hole!

We are starting a new 1/32 "Spec Drag" class at the local track with the following requirements:
- Unmodified Parma WOMP chassis
- Parma #680-B rear tires (front is open - but they must be present and functional)
- Gearing - open
- Motor - ProSlot PS-4002FK
- Body - drag strip appropriate

We had two of the cars that have been assembled squaring off for some fun runs last Wednesday and though I would share a couple pictures and a slow-mo video of the slide-ways fun "out of the hole" with my white "Money Pit" Coupe...

I made up the decals for the name using Microsoft Excel's "Word Art" and then applied them using a little Mod Podge glue to the inside of the body. The plate is from a cool little site that allows you to make up custom plate for your particular state: http://acme.com/licensemaker/
(put that on the inside of the body using the same method)

With that tornado on a popsicle stick motor-chassis combo, I think it is going to take a little "lead tuning" to get her consistent - but it is down right entertaining watching it fight for traction / fish tail for the first third of the track right now... :D

I like the idea! Womps are cool low buck racers, and the fact that you're running them without "glue" on the track works well for me, I hate that sticky mess! I couldn't get the videos to play, maybe I'll try later or on a different computer when I get back home (using the office gear right now, shhh...). Have fun with your new drag racing class. -- Ernie

Is the womp an inline or a sidewinder? If its an inline there is no way to dial out the sideways motion under acceleration (or deceleration). If its a sidewinder you can dial it out by various means. Altering the rotating mass of the armature or the rear axle depending on whether it kicks out to the left or right. Or altering the angle on the sidewinder motor. Or changing the gear ratio. If youre going sideways your not going forward.

The Womp is a single piece inline - so it will be a balancing act with lead to try to balance the bite off the line I am guessing - but in the mean time, for the first runs with it - we were having a fish tailing good time! :D

Those rear tires are low grip for drag racing.
A better choice would be Parma Tuna if you wanted to stay with that brand.
A 2.9 ish gear ratio is what we run out here.
Wheelie bars and some weight will help also.
