Well time has come to build a new track :music-rockout: . The Man Cave has new paint and carpet so time for the track to go back up. People here who remember me know that I have a thing for short track cars, and I am now building brass chassis. I have talked about building a oval track before, That would be where you find "short-track" cars after all. I have looked at Harrys and shotgun Dave tracks. I can get the 5' width and a little more, length is 12.5' at most. Will this be enough for 1/25 scale cars to race? I really like the older style cars I am seeing on this site. Reminds me of the ones Me and My dad used to see at the local track so many years ago.

Sure it is. Raced on tracks that size often.

Ain't nothing wrong with a track that size. I've raced 1/25th on three lane tracks about the same dimensions and it's non stop action.

So a oval it is, This should be fun. I built a routed track before so it should go smooth. 3 lanes sounds like a good start. I was going through some of my boxed up slot car stuff and found a box of scenery stuff and my track lighting that I took down from the old track. Just have to love it when that happens. Will make a build thread and keep you all posted of progress. Now to see about some 1/25 bodies...weee

To put things in perspective. The stock car circuit where I grew up was 1/8 of a mile. It was called Weisglass Statium in Staten Island NY. There was always lots of action. Your space would seem like Indy in comparrison.

John! Welcome back - again! Good to see you here and I cannot wait to see your track take shape!

Funny - I found a box I'd forgotten about with some parts in it the other day. No idea how it got separated from all the other parts, but it was like Christmas!

Thanks for the comments guys. I know Dave,back again. Still fighting shoulder issues from surgeries. But I NEED my hobby now more than ever!!! Thanks to you guys I did hang on to core of my slot stuff during my sell off. Now I find stuff I did not know I kept. WooHoo!! I will still be running 1/32nd scale but also want to run 1/24 and 1/25th scale. I am working on it this week end and will post some proof (PICS!).Also working on another saturday night short track car.

I just completed my Ascot track and we had the first race this afternoon. My track is 5.5'X11'8" with four lanes spaced at 4". We ran mostly 1/24 hardbodies and jalopies and had a ball. So the answer is a resounding "YES" 5X12 is big enough for 1/25 scale.

I'm glad my track build could help you with yours. I used to think I needed the largest track that I could possibly fit into the room, but the folks at this forum helped me to see otherwise. Good luck with your build.

I posted in another thread that I just can't physicaly take on a routed build yet. As much as I want to. So I have a 4' X 12' 4 lane scally OVAL track build going on. Still slotting on. Will get pics on its on thread.
