I do not like being negative, and never base my opinions until I have the toy in front of me.

I will certainly get one, and we have nice wheels from Slot Car Corner to make it more accurate. But they won't please many scale enthusiasts if they arrive with wheel covers like shown.

Time will tell.

I would be interested how it runs compared to Mono's and Carreras, I would like it to run with the pack.

I was more concerned about the grille, and I'm pretty sure the rear window and tail light panel will be street versions too. First thing to rip off would be the wipers.

The wheels are easily changed. The bodywork is not. I'm betting there are two exhaust pipes poking out the back like on the Torino. Now that Jules is getting Pioneer back into action maybe he can get a properly tooled version of this together if the livery isn't prohibitively expensive? Certainly I think I'd be more inclined toward that than the General Lee.

Wrong front bumper and no spoiler either comparing the scaley picture to the actual car picture.

I can work with that to get it right though....

It is very likely it is just the street car, just new paint. And I will hack it up and make it look the way I want as usual :)

Junior, I am pretty sure we can get it to fit right into the series. There isn't many cars out today we can't "fix" to suit our own taste.

Between this, the new releases from Carrera and the recent efforts by Monogram...I'm a pretty happy oval racing camper :dance:

The word I have is that yes, the wheels will be incorrect as well as other items mentioned.

Simply a repaint of the street version. It might very well be the only one they produce.

I'm not sure how they could have decided this was a good car to do with zero modifications to the body. The wheels are the least of my concerns. Considering I know who they got the artwork from, at least that will be accurate. The rest of it? Not remotely worth bothering with.

As for the possibility that they won't do any more cars in this series - (even if they are as poorly modeled as this one) just smacks of sheer stupidity.

The good new is that i will now have more money for other cars.

Does anyone else get the full force of how frustrating this car is, when David, of all people, throws away the kid gloves and straps on the gaunlets? Good one, David.

I will say I will have one. I will also post a modification recipe using Carrera wheels, how to cut that incorrect year front grill to replace it with the screen it should have, and whatever I have to do to get the back straight and add a front lip air dam. What do you want to bet I wind up sticking another of Mark's motors in it? Maybe this is the time for me to try the B-Nova setup...

This reminds me of what they did with the Big Red 1 Camaro a few years back were they use stickers instead of making the hidden headlights. I would just have pick up the decals and make my own Carrera Charger. Jim

I'd like to clarify my earlier post, and I'll warn you in advance that I've been off the pain meds for several days and am gutting it out with gritted teeth.

I got into 1:32 primarily due to Scalextric's offerings almost 10 years ago - Trans-Am cars, F1, Gt-40's, etc.

A few years ago, I began to notice their cars changing - the Piper Ferrari was the worst paint job ever, and the Truxmor Torino the worst rendition of any car until the aborted Charger in this thread. While it is their right to cheapen cars that will undoubtedly sell bunches, in other markets, I don't expect them to sell here. Why should I purchase such a watered down version of an iconic American racing car with a pedigree? Why would anyone in the USA "settle" for this thing?

The car is an abomination with the exception of the artwork. It is as if the Scaly marketing guys think they are so smooth to pull the wool over our eyes. When these begin showing up with deeply discounted prices, it will be a replay of the Torino again. Better yet, it will again supposedly prove to a foreign manufacturer that the US market sucks. I think it states explicitly that they don't understand our market and can't see the light from where their head is currently residing.

To double the insult, not making anything to run with them is crazy. What impetus is there to buy one if I have to repaint others? Simply get one of the Carrera cars that at least are much closer in the body department an, oh yeah - have multiple liveries already.

Think this is just me complaining? Nope. You really want to see the state of Scalextric, check out the foreign forums where they are shredding the latest Clark Lotus over using the incorrect colors and less detail than the first release of the car. These types of efforts (or lack thereof!) in addition to the recent quality control issues with a number of their cars tells me that they are on a slippery slope.

Thank God Carrera has a body all we need to do is repaint and decal for such a nicer result.

I too use to be a scalextric supporter but with all I am hearing bad about the current crop of cars lately, I'm glad I am doing more of my own scratch building of what it is I want anymore.......
