Did anyone check the driver's shoes?
If it was Dave Marcis, there should be a pair of wing tips on the feet of the driver!

Yes the 427 SOHC "Cammer" was real enough, but it NEVER competed in NASCAR.

Wasn't vinyl

Some cars painted them that way so the number was easier to read at long distances.

A very interesting note about Dodge Daytonas and Plymouth Superbirds . . . . . .
You could not purchase either of them at your friendly Dodge or Chrysler / Plymouth dealership without a vinyl top in place. The reason for that is that to take the recess out of the stock window, production Road Runners and Super Bees were taken to an offsite contractor to have the front fenders (the same parts for both Plymouth and Dodge cars), nosepiece, rear wing and have the rear glass brought to the top of the roof line to reduce the drag. The story was that the contractor did not have the kind of skills to make the top smooth, so it was decided to cover it up with vinyl so no one would complain about the shoddy workmanship.
