NERF Sportsman’s Series

Inspired by HRWs showdown series, the NERF club in Massachusetts is establishing a Sportsman class. We have several club members that don’t have much experience building cars from scratch and they thought this series would be a good introduction to the art. We are adopting most of the HRW rules, but changing tires to Quikslicks and limiting bodies to 60s and early 70s cars.
Methe and I worked with Bob and Steve at SCC to set up a bulk order for all the parts. As usual, SCC was awesome and fast, even when we changed and added some parts :angry-tappingfoot: . Brain and a few other club members shared some body kits: lots of Camaro and a Mustang, but we do have a big Galaxie and a Torino coming.
So far, it has been a good team building exercise. We hope to use this post to share photos and works in process.

Yes, just outstanding to hear this.
If you are any club members need assistance in photo hosting, please let me know. HRW has a photo hosting site that is free and easy to use.
I look forward in seeing the full field!
Kudos to SCC once again for supporting yet another race series.

What a coincidence.
I've been assembling parts (65 Chevelle resin body, CB Design rims, PM offset motor bracket) for a 2019 Showdown entry.

Looks like my road racing proxy colleagues at NERF are looking for a new challenge too.
Have fun, guys.

Designed this vintage poster based on old New England race posters using simple distressed fonts from dafont.com.

Thanks Harry and 442, we are excited to have some fun with this series!
VTECFOUR, when you finish that Sportsman- by what, like tomorrow?

send it on down and we’ll “tune” it for you!
(PS - is that resin body readily available???)
In addition to the new cars and graphics, each driver will need a “Circle Track” nickname. So far, we’ve got:
“Buckaroo Bob B” and “The Jersey Kid”

Since the parts were sent to me for distribution, I got a jump on the build to show the guys what we are looking at as far as this build goes.
I need to lower it a bit and I want to re do the body decals etc...

This and Bob's are a nice looking series.
I really enjoy seeing the T/A and sportsman cars.... all American Muscle; JT previa that looks a very neat track, can we see more of it please.
By the way, I printed a poster and it's on show here in the UK. !! :auto-checkeredflag:
