Can anybody tell me what is the softest tire to run on wood painted with flat latex. 1/32 Vintage Nascar (Mono/Rev, Carrara 57 Chevys? We are using maxxie track applicatons. :text-thankyouyellow:

Do not assume that softer tires will always give you better grip. In some cases they will roll under in the corners and much of the contact patch will be lost, so it does not hurt to try different compounds.

I think most of the guys running on wood would say urethane. It seems to rubber in the track and get better the more rubber that builds up. You have a good supplier that makes about every size you might need and they are reasonably priced.

I just went thru the paint thing and tried flat latex and my silicone tires did not grip as well as they do on gloss finish. I re-painted with gloss and the grip is excellent now. From reading comment on this forum, I would think urethane is the way to go.

99% of the racing we do is on wood tracks and we have found that Quick Slicks Extra Firm work best in most applications and Firm is right behind it. Yhe soft compound does not have the grip of the other two compounds. It does have the advantages of being easier to true.

As stated on another thread here on HRW recently, the Pioneer Legend cars are coming and it's expected they will be available in January. I'm going to be trying one out on my oval, but since they will be 1/32 scale replicas of a car that is already a 5/8th version of coupes from the 1930's, these cars are going to be more like 1/43rd scale slot cars. I have a lot of spare 1/32 scale silicone and urethane tires, but none of them should fit this car.

Any one have any idea what aftermarket tires might fit this car? Silicone tires have worked best on my slick oval but options, if any at this time, may be limited.
