Perhaps the most anticipated release of the year for myself has finally arrived. The fictional scheme may not appeal to everyone, but it has a special meaning for those of us that are longtime veterans in this hobby.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

What makes it special is the name on the roof: D. Kennedy. For those that are newcomers, Mr. Kennedy has been a long time enthusiast who has worked in our hobby for many years. His photography is legendary and his efforts to bring American cars to our shores is unrivaled. He is now with Scalextric and this car was one of his many projects. Only seems fitting that he is “first behind the wheel.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Since NASCAR licensing fees are astronomical these days, fictional themes were chosen that might closely represent and actual car from the era. I think old hats like myself can see where they were going with this one. For some, these themes miss the mark (ahem). I fully respect that. I would much prefer scale accurate schemes. But it’s just not going to happen. So either you pass on these models, or you take them as they are. Perhaps repainting them as many are doing these days.<\/span><\/p>\n

In any case, it looks good enough for my oval track to beat and bang around with. My old eyes are not what they used to be. At speed in the corners, it’s pretty hard for me to tell if it’s fictional or not anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n
