Leave it to Carrera to bring us models like this one. It’s been a couple years since the first release and it’s good to see the model return just in time for Christmas.

If you are not familiar with this car then I highly suggest clicking here and having a read. This unique car saw it’s debut in the Carrera line up back in 2014. Not the most popular release of course, but still a significant accomplishment with the mold and the theme.

The “Green” energy side of this model is pretty important across the big pond. More so than you might think. Saving precious energy is near the top in the quality of life department. I was unaware of this until the history behind making this car was revealed to me. So knowing this history, the choice to create this car made sense. The same can be said of the Formula E models Carrera has brought us.

The model is well done throughout. From the markings and color to overall shape. Nothing is ever perfect but Carrera has captured it well enough in our scale for my eyes.

My model is digital so it has lights. This might be why I chose digital even though I am an analog enthusiast.

Standard inline configuration with 9/27 gearing, polarity switch, and of course digital chip. I simply do not alter or modify anything inside as I am happy with the Carrera components.

Aftermarket tires are easily found. I am a urethane enthusiast so Paul Gage is my go to blend.

The car runs very well for a model not designed for wood tracks. On Carrera track it has ideal magnet traction and should please most enthusiasts who enjoy them. Of course I noticed a significant performance improvement switching to aftermarket tires, but the new blend of rubber from Carrera is actually surprising me. Once cleaned and trued, they grip pretty well in non-magnet form.

Sometime a model does not have to fit into any other racing class you have to be enjoyed. I think this is one of those releases. As far as collections go, this is a great addition. Something different that no other brand is producing that has a very interesting modern history. The fact that it looks and runs very well just makes it appealing to a larger crowd.
