Scalextric McLaren F1 GTR

A famous McLaren from the 90’s returns to our hobby in 1/32nd scale thanks to Scalextric. They picked the perfect scheme for the introduction as well. Not many are as iconic as GULF adorned race cars, regardless of scale.

VIDEO REVIEW

The car is inline with standard 9/27 gearing. Bar magnet located just behind motor.

As the video shows, the car runs very well. This is on WOOD without the aid of the magnet. For that I have to give Scalextric credit where it is due.  To run this well on a surface it was not intended for isn’t that common with all ready to run models.

Any advanced enthusiast can throw a wallet full of parts at a car and improve it. Myself included. I think I will leave this car right where it is. It runs nicely enough and should fit into the rotation we have with our friends nicely.

No complaints from my home racing view. Looks good and runs well without significant work or added expense. Scalextric took a chance on this one and I am glad they did. With plenty of other teams to produce, I imagine we will see quite a few in the future.
