INTRODUCTION
NASCAR has it’s “Generations”.
They apply to certain timeframes in NASCAR history that describe the body styles and technology of overall cars in the race series.
We are covering 1981-2006.
This is both “GEN 3” and “GEN 4” styles of bodies and themes.
ONE MODEL ENTRY ONLY!

SCC SHOWDOWN CHASSIS KIT FOR THIS SCALE HERE
Bodies:
ONLY Plastic model kits from AMT/Revell/MPC/Monogram/Salvino’s in 1/25th or 1/24th
NO resin or clear lexan bodies. Standard model kit bodies only.
No exceptions. PLENTY OF KITS available.
Modeling Notes:
We can only stress that 1/25th scale is preferred. They are slightly smaller and lighter, and look better on the chassis. The wheel inserts in the 1/25th kits drop right into the wheels. 1/24th do not and require hand sanding to reduce diameter enough to fit in the wheels. Yet, due to model selection of the years chosen 1/24th is legal.
This series follows the same spirit as our Showdown has always been:
It is about MODELING as much as performance.
Try to recreate a car that would look the part on the track during that time.
Added scale detail is HIGHLY encouraged!
Wheels/Tires must be INSIDE the body. See photos of models and cars.
Body will sit at correct distance from tires. NO LOWRIDER/SLAMMED models.
5/32 (3.95MM) Body clearance minimum from bottom edge of kit (rocker panels)
At least HALF of the tire sidewall will be visible.
AGAIN – Research and follow the millions of images at your fingertips.
NO enlarged fenders or flares.
MEANING NO MODS TO BODY.
Must have interior. Simple flat stock with driver and roll bar accepted.
Must have scale driver figure. Resin/3D print ok.
Realism here. No cartoon characters, animals, super heroes, etc. Actual drivers figures.
NO lexan formed trays. They look horrible and this is about MODELING as well as performance.
Must have glass in place. Either kit or clear plastic you had to make.
YOU MAY CREATE FICTIONAL MODELS
BUT READ CAREFULLY
Models will be painted to match the style NASCAR used at the time.
AGAIN – RESEARCH. Make sure your scheme/livery follows the proper timeframe of your model.
CONTACT ME BEFORE you model if you have any questions
Again, RESEARCH. It’s too easy to see the style of paint schemes.
Our guidelines are a mix of beginner and veteran modeler skill levels. The goal is simply to get YOU involved in the fun this larger scale has to offer. Hopefully it also motivates you to start more scratch building.
Chassis:
Brass or Steel/Brass mix only. NO plastic, wood, 3D, etc.
Older Pro-Track or current H&R chassis ONLY are allowed.
NO OTHER PREFAB BRANDS.
No Plastic/3D/Pod Hybrids
GUIDE – Any commercial guide will fit as we have the groove depth.
8.50 MM Slot Depth/Flush braid
Scratchbuilt is the preferred choice but NOT required.
INLINE ONLY – We are making it easy for all.
REAR WHEEL DRIVE ONLY
ONE MOTOR ONLY
Mixing steel and brass allowed
NO minimum weight.
Track clearance: 1/8 to 3/32 at lowest of chassis. SEE BELOW VIDEO
I include this minimum due to some of the chassis like H&R being in between the two heights in many cases.
REMEMBER THIS IS FOR THE CHASSIS, NOT BODY.
We have the new SCC SHOWDOWN CHASSIS KIT FOR THIS SCALE HERE
AVAILABLE in 1/8 axle bore.
You may build 3/32 bore of course.
Just remember the full KIT is 1/8.
Running Gear:
You can utilize 3/32 or 1/8 axle bore.
Gear ratios are your choice. I will suggest 9/27 or 9/28 as this seems the best on our size oval.
Slot.it, Scaleauto, Parma, H&R, JK gears allowed.
Guide can be larger commercial grade or any Sloting Plus, Slot.it, Scaleauto 1/32 guide.
Your choice of braid/wire.
WHEELS:
CB Design Series INSERT Wheels or H&R/Pro-Track INSERT wheels.
Scale model INSERTS that are in your kit or for the time period WILL BE REQUIRED.
Again, common sense here. There is no shortage of photographs for you to use as a guide.
Wheels should look like the time period.
NO LMP or any style wheel patterns that do match the time period or series.
GLUE YOUR TIRES ON THE WHEELS PLEASE. Other adhesives work as well. Choose your favorite. Sealing outside edge with CA (Super Glue) works exceptionally well.
Using old H&R/Pro-Track wheels? Need to remove old foams?
MOTOR:
PREDATOR 20,500 Long can motor ONLY.
Tires:
Only Paul Gage tires allowed on rear.
Sizes:
28125 for RIBBED Wheels
28120 for SMOOTH wheels (no inner rib)
Older foams allowed for front if the meet diameter specs
NO OTHER TIRE ALLOWED ON THE REAR
MINIMUM DIAMETER: 26MM front/rear.
These are not low riders or LMP models.
*Any model with tires reduced past this amount will simply not be raced*
MODELING – Scale Realism- Detail. Please Embrace it.
This is why PG 28MM size is the only approved tire and size.
Tires can be installed and then trued and still meet minimum spec.
Older foams or older urethane/rubber allowed on fronts only.
One more time – Overall diameter should be no less than 26mm.
