LIMIT ONE CAR PER CLASS
(One Car – One Truck)

Welcome to the 2025 Jalopy Challenge.

What is jalopy racing? Jalopy racing was a popular form of dirt track racing that took place from the 1940s until the 1960s. It featured old cars, often junkyard cars, that raced on dirt tracks and fairgrounds across the country. Most were worn out old heaps and that is really what made them so great. Google is your friend. Just research Jalopy Racing to get a sense of what this race is all about.

We have been racing this class for quite a few years. Dating back to our very first proxy in 2009. Last year Shotgun Dave built a new car for the series and I had to do a video to hint at bringing it back.

TRUCK SERIES 1926-1937

DO YOUR RESEARCH. Common sense is your guide as usual.
Look at the history and it should be very clear what the body modeling techniques are.

1/25th Scale advised. 1/24 allowed.
Kits from AMT, Revell, MPC, Lindberg, Model King (AMT/MPC), Moebius, etc.
NO Lexan/Clear/Paper/Metal bodies.
You MUST USE MOST OF THE BODY. NO open frame/roll bar model.

Body Modeling Notes

NO Fenders on cars.
1/4 or less sanded/profiled allowed on SOME trucks. See Video

Must have visible/exposed scale engine detail.

We WILL ALLOW 3D PRINTED bodies if the fit in the era as described above.
We WILL ALLOW pick-up trucks if modeled in the same style as the cars.

We WILL ALLOW open top roadster style models.

No “Woody” panel trucks, tow, fuel, tanker, etc or larger delivery type models.

Require a number at least on each side. Roof optional.
These are RACE cars, not street rods/drag racers.
Modeling should reflect the prototype examples.

You can use decals or HAND PAINT the numbers/sponsors.
Interior with driver figure and typical roll bar material required.
NO cartoon, super heroes, animals, drivers or themes. Again, research the history.
NO clear/lexan interior ro driver trays. It’s still about modeling.
