Here are the detailed results from Tyneside. In the GP class it looks to have been a close race between Dave's Auto Union and David's Delahaye with the lead changing right up to the last heats. The race for third, fourth and fifth between the Auto Unions of Mike and Steve and Andi's Miller was just as close with all three finishing on 82 laps. It was little more spread out with around one or two laps between the cars. Fastest lap went to Mike.
The Voiturette race was equally closely fought at the front of the field with half a lap between Mac's winning Alfetta and Keith's Mercedes 165. In third and fourth were the Maseratis of Mike and John finishing just half 0.03 of a lap apart. Mac took the fastest lap and the two points.
The overall championship is still wide open although Mike has a 7 point lead over Steve with David a further 4 points behind in third place. Dave is two points behind David and then there is an eleven point gap to Andi's Miller.
The Voiturette championship is headed by Mac's Alfetta with a lead of 13 points over John's Maserati. Keith's Mercedes is a further 6 points behind and Mike's Maserati 2 points behind that.
Best Regards
David
