Beyond the GT40, Fords are tough. King Cobra, HonkerII, Open Sports Ford, G7A.
Back-casting from a lexan body maybe?

McKee Mk6 (Strombecker?) had a Ford in one chassis, not sure that it ran.

Apparently the Monogram Cooper Cobra is acceptable....Racing Sports Cars says it was on the grid for St Jovite in 1966.

I thought there was a Japanese version of the G7A marketed with a wind-up motor but I may be wrong....it has the split wing like the G7A.
I don't know that the Open Sports Ford is available although a McLaren M8 in the hands of someone with modeling skills maybe could be made to work????

Thanks for the feedback all! The GT40 option seemed to be the obvious choice, but I was hoping for a little more variety to choose from. Unfortunately, mu casting/modelinf skills are extremely limited at best.

Off to hunt for a monogram or a MK i.

Don't overlook the George Turner cars; he has the McLaren M6A, M8A and M8B, all really nice looking cast resin bodies. He also has 3 great looking models of the Chaparral 2D, but I can't find a source saying that the 2D's ever ran Can-Am; I think they started with the 2E, which Slot.It and others make a model of.

The Chapparal 2D (and follow-on 2F) were endurance coupes built on the original fiberglass chassis of the 2A cars. They never ran Can-Am.
The 2E was the first Can-Am car, built on an all aluminum tub like the 2C. The 2G was an evolution of the 2E, and photos of Hall's Vegas crash clearly show the aluminum tub.
The 2H was a custom monocoque and the 2J is well documented. Those are the Can-Am Chapparals, unless you count the M12 (Aurora and resins) they ran for Surtees when he didn't like the 2H.

But for running a Ford, the Strombecker McKee (sidewinder pod) or the Monogram Cooper seem like the best unless there are others available that aren't widely known.

As Superslab said, the Ford GT-40 that ran in '66 at St. Jovite and (and according to RacingSportsCar) also ran Mosport in '66 and '67; the Comstock Racing #94 car, was a MkI. So any MkI is legal for this series. The MkII and the MkIV, however, are not.

Having said that, the intent of this proxy was really to focus on modeling and racing the true CanAm cars; not FIA cars that raced in their event on Saturday and then signed up for a Can-Am race on Sunday. Same is true for the Porsche 917k. But, as it says in the rules, if it raced in any Can-Am event from '66-'74 then it is legal for this series.

Playing off what chappyman66 said, I would love to see someone do a McKee Mk10; one of my all-time favorite Can-Am cars; from a small team that, essentially, lived from sponsor check to sponsor check.... There was always something special to me about "the wedge".

As Chris noted, the Strombecker cars look pretty good with a little work. They did both the Mk6 and Mk10 McKee as well as the Lola T160 and the McLaren M6B (I believe) plus the infamous Chapparal 2H.

And here I was hoping that Chris was going to put that jewel into the running......

There were also at least two Ford-engined Lola T70 roadsters, the #30 that was raced by Dan Gurney with the 305ci Weslake-Ford engine (the only ford engine ever to win a CanAm race), and the #51 car raced by Parnelli Jones and Mario Andretti, that used the Ford twin-cam Indy Engine.

Both could be built from a Thunderslot white kit, as all the necessary parts are provided, and of course Revell-Monogram did the Gurney car.

Here's the Jones/Andretti version made from the Thunderslot kit:

Then there was the Gurney "McLeagle" (available from Revell-Monogram) , and the Andretti McLaren M6B as well.

There were plenty Ford-powered cars in the Can-Am.
A quick perusal of Pete Lyon’s Can-Am showed McLarens from M1 to M12 with Ford engines, along with many Lola T70s with Ford engines. Readily available in 1/32, decals being the only thing to search out for a replica.
There were a number of Oldsmobile-powered (kids, ask your parent what an Oldsmobile was) cars in the series. There was even a Chrysler Hemi-powered car.

The Ford gt 40 must have been the spyder edition or the G7 which was built for can am. I dont recall any coupes in Can Am Eppie Weites Co stock Raci g entered the so called Gt 40 in 66 At Mosport.
