on my 1/43 rd artin track, i used an old power supply from a PC. put out 12V with 10 amps. enough for artin cars :)
measured the current draw once, with a peak meter - 1.6A for a heavy magnet 1/43rd artin car.
once, i put a small coin accidently directly on the rails, just where the power was feeded into the track. push the Parma Eco all the way through, expecting to see an fast accelareting car. But the car did not move at all. Tried the diode rotary switch - nothing happened. pushed some times again. nothing.
found the coin.
touched the coin.
burned my fingers - man this was hot ...
but no bad things for car, track or controllers.
i would use some cheap "step down voltage modules" you get from ebay or amazon or something alike - to reduce and set the voltage you like.
but for my feelings, 20V and 3A sound great for a single power source for 2 pcs 1/43rd cars.
you can use one step down module per lane - so you can power seperately.
