To escape the insanity that the world presents, seemly everyday lately, I escaped to the workshop and built a chassis to run in the Kleskun Hills fun run. I was in the workshop by 7 this morning.
A brass plate and Lego effort, with rear bearings in the rear. This gearbox set up was first used in my Lexus and then into the 132 vintage F1 cars I built. A Minebea S can with the same gearing as used in the Lexus was employed. A very simple to build concept that results in a well planted car. Using Lego with its precise dimensions means you can build a straight car without much effort. The Brass plate is simple cut to length, with a center line scribed on it. A hole is drilled for the guide and the Lego blocks glued for the correct wheelbase of the car that will sit on it. Wheels are machined metal static wheels that were drilled out to accept a 2mm axles.
This is a rebuild of my earlier Cayman car from a couple of years ago. So the shell will be a Porsche Cayman that raced at my first Pronomag proxy.
With so many cars at my local venue, it is hard to pick which 3 to use. I think they will be this Cayman, the Lexus, and then my 69 Trans-am Camaro,
I will get some pictures posted of the complete car. Just installing a rear window now.
