Not your fathers Oldsmobile T-Jet

Postby dge467 » Tue Sep 26, 2017 8:58 pm

Sorry for the corny title, I couldn't help it! Anyway I picked these cars up on Ebay for dirt cheap. They are plastic miniature replica's of a vintage tin toy from the 50's or 60's. They are part of a series of miniature vintage toy replica's from Kitahara of Japan I believe. In the description of the auction they sounded to about the size of a T-Jet. The wheelbase of a T-Jet chassis ended up being perfect! I just made some screw posts and epoxied them to the body. They could use some wider axles or Tuff One's wheels and axles.

Thank you for the post and pictures, they brought back great memories of my first introduction into slot racing. The lineup of cars in the last picture made me remember that first trip in the backroom of The Jim Tolly Hobby Shop where we started running the AC Vibrator cars on the little four lane track with the bolted down steering wheel speed controllers. We could pick from the limited choice of body styles, come up with a dollar and forty nine cents and race. This lasted for a year and then came the T-Jets and the speeds increased dramatically. Again thank you for the memories and allowing this near 70 year old to peel back about 55 years and go back to where I was originally amazed by and developed this life long love for my little boy hobby.

That is sweet! Being both a t-jet AND Oldsmobile fan - I am going to have to see if I can't find one of those!
Bravo sir! Bravo!

Very cool! I like the Ford Wagon myself, looks like a '58 or '59.
Thanks for the look, and... Enjoy! -- Ernie :>)
