I totally agree with the "twits" on ebay inflating the prices!! Whenever I see rare or vintage in the label I figure it's probably junk or overpriced and I'm usually right!! That is why the hobby is getting too expensive to enjoy for some!! I can't understand why anyone would charge over $100 for a slot car painted like a tiger or something just to show off their airbrush skills --and why would anyone want a car like that??? Let's bring back the reasonably priced cars that look like race cars!!! $30- 50.
So,I have to ask, if someone offered you $150 for, say, the Fly crashed 917 model, would you say, "No thanks, I don't think it should sell for so much money. But I'll sell it to you for $90.00"?
That's a weird question. You can offer me any amount you want . If you want to pay more than it's worth that's up to you. I just think the reasonable prices for a slot car are getting too high-( just like most everything nowadays ).
Why is it a weird question? Isn't that what happens on eBay? People offer a bid of what they are willing to spend. Do you tell them no, I'll take less? First of all, collectors (of anything) will usually be willing to pay more than casual buyers. I think the last five words of your post is spot on. BTW, the new Thunderbolt Lola Spyder is reportedly listed at $100 or a little more.
You are very right about collectors paying whatever price just to get something they want. Oh well I just would like reasonably priced slot cars to race -- won't be getting the Thunderbolt Lola Spyder!!
