Fly Classic Ferrari 512 conversion

Postby VTECFOUR » Wed Sep 06, 2017 10:53 pm

My Fly Classic Porsche 908 conversions have turned out really well, so I grabbed my most beat up Fly Ferrari 512 for a conversion.

Image

Chassis's my usual hybrid, a Devised Designs (DD) slimline motor pod with a perimeter brass chassis. As with my first Porsche 908-3 conversion, I'm using the DD guide/front axle holder.

Side pans are spot soldered with .030 piano wire, front and back.

Should have it running soon.

That's definitely one way to tune a Fly classic!

Sure it will be smooth and fast....

Chassis's assembled...

...and mounted with single posts, front and rear.

Stance is good.

Didn't have any Campagnolo five spoke inserts so these Slot It GT40 rims will work for now. Driveability's good. Just need an interior driver tray and it's done.

Good outcome.

Very nice work! I've done a couple of similar chassis.

Another great car. Looks good.

I think Racer Sideways make the inserts you need but I'm not sure if you can buy them separately or not.

Footscoot is correct about the racer/sideways inserts. Cloverleaf has them for 6.99. They are even gold already.

Just google Devised Designs.

Lots of interesting 3D printed slot car bits.
