This resin cast was mastered from a modified old Monogram 1:32 Austin Healey Sprite model kit which actually measures 1:29 scale. A hard tonneau cover and driver figure upper torso were incorporated to give it a race period look and simplify the modeling.
They're slosh cast to yield lightweight bodies weighing between 11 and 12 grams. Wheelbase and track are 75mm and 45mm, respectively.
We're going for modest and period speed so SCC's Tuna Classic 16K S can motor seemed right up our alley. Harry's HRW review and impression clinched the choice.

The modeling aspect is a feature of this proxy so wheel detail makes a difference. The old BWA rims immediately came to mind. The small lip detail gives these rims that much more of the right look. Also, period-appropriate wheel inserts simulating wire wheels, Minilites and steel rims were made for the .450" (11.43mm) wheel insert size.
Though the BWA rims have not been available for awhile, RS Slot Racing (http://www.rsslotracing.com) in the UK have the identical scale 15" rims (14mm diameter, 7mm width, 3mm centre rib) and .450" inserts available. After contact with Colin, a rather nice chap, these are our spec rims.
After confirming the rims would be from RS Slot Racing, Paul Gage urethane tires were our choice for performance and scale modeling reasons. The track venues are all painted wood surface, urethane-friendly, and Paul's PGT (shore 40) 21073 and 21093 tires have a period round sidewall look.
When you put everything together with the chassis of your choice or doing, it'll look like this.
Now that the twenty-car grid is confirmed with paid entries, kit distribution looks to be within the next couple of weeks.
